Man that is weird. I live in "flyover country" and out here the farmers and ranchers were using it haha.

Memory is selective. The experiences people had of the "beginning of the internet" was different based on their tech level, social group, education level, and when they started living online. Those of us who started our online lives back in the 70s do remember predictions of doom and gloom as well as laughably absurd predictions about what would happen.
