Cheap Android phone for development?

I'm looking to buy an Android phone for app development.

Criteria: unlocked, cheap ($200 or so), able to run the latest OS.

Check eBay for a Galaxy Nexus, or Nexus 4, those will be your best bets.

I tried the Galaxy Nexus last year. Loved the screen, but unsure of how long Google will support it? Will it get 4.3?

Yes it will get 4.3 soon OTA or you can download the image yourself now and install it.

I'd recommend the Galaxy Nexus. It still receives instantaneous updates directly from Google.

The Galaxy Nexus is upgradable to 4.3. Only the Nexus S is dropped from 4.2 and 4.3.
