Just don't get a glossy display if you can help it. Matte displays are far superior if you want any kind of colour accuracy. Although if you are really keen on colour accuracy you are probably still better off getting a CRT.

After experiencing the iMac 24 inch glossy screen, I do have to say that I prefer glossy to matte. Also it does not disturb me for the colors. ;)

I agree, I don't want to spend $800 on an ACD, but the best deal I could find for the 2408 was $600 on CNET. Did you find a cheaper vendor?

Amen to that. I paid $600 plus tax for it. I just ordered it from Dell since it had an extra warranty attached to it. I'm kind of ticked that it doesn't ship until the 30th of June, but it's being made fresh for me.

The thing that sold me was the fact that it has component, composite, hdmi, display port, VGA, and oh i forgot, DVI in. The ACD is just DVI/VGA. I can at least hook the thing up to a Verizon Fios box and watch tv on it too.

Cheers mate, it would be great to read your impressions on the Dell 2408. I am also personally interested in how it is packed and all (it must be a Apple unboxing tick in me).

It's probably just the brown box and bag, but I'm anxious to get it hooked up to the MXO and start color correcting. I'll def get back and give it a review when it arrives in July.

I am really partial to LG screens. They tend to have better dead pixel warranties and last for quite a while. My 22" was 240, which makes me a happy camper since my 17" was 500 a few years before it :D.

Have you seen a high quality matte LCD screen to compare it too though? If you have ignore this post, otherwise you may be pleasantly surprised.

Well I can only compare it to a "HP 19w" that was connected through DVI to my MacBook Pro. I don't know how good are HP but this screen was good.

I really like glossy, it brings something more to the quality and to the viewing. But hey, thats my experience and opinion. :)
