Possible shift to cheaper Australian prices

Replying to my own post is pretty lame but I just noted that the xserve prices are only 18-20% higher than a straight currency conversion not the 30% we currently see for "desktops". Hopefully this week and Apple's likely announcements will see a price review of all systems to this more reasonable figure...

Yah, I'm sure most of the price difference is apple not wanting to adjust the prices without revisions. The dollar has strengthened quite massively lately.

Well ive been here for some time in australia and i can assure you were all getting ripped off...

Heres my little story for you.

My family lives in the UK I live in good old Melbourne LOVELY. My dads sells lights in the uk not normal lights specail displaycase lights. Somthing which are not sold here in Australia at all not to my knowllage at least. He decided to ship me some fittings as presents because we collect. action figures from movies matrix fredy that sort of thing and others as well as other figures. The Parcel was sent via UPS... All prices were quoted for GST Been included for this end. In other words I was assured that i wouldnt have to pay tax etc. Well i got a nice supprise when i got home to find my specail delivery with a carge on it of 52 AUD. From not ups but the tax man or who ever is in charge of imports. So heres my advice.

Get your brother to ship it via regualr post or fedex not UPS.....

Iam heading over to the uk in 2 months time i bloody hope the dollar and Sterlin even out soon lol.. I am not buying a laptop here in australia till prices drop... too dam exspsnsive

Same for Russia - here I have to pay for PB Al 15" extra amount (comparing to US price) that would cover economy flight Moscow-New York-Moscow, 2 nights stay and even visa application expenses...
And if I'll buy PB there it will come with extra memory and case...
