Cheapest way to get to Las Vegas from Phoenix, Az?

I need to be in Vegas on the 14th, and as cheaply as possible.

EDIT: $44 if you travel on thursday. Its about a 9hr journey.

Drive. It's only 5 hours. Probably only 1 tank of gas each way too.

And that only gets you half way into the desert.

Get in with the youth hostel, and see it you can hitch a ride with someone, by paying half the gas.

So flying would be 225ish on Southwest. That's ridiculous in my opinion.

Greyhound would be 90ish, but seems pretty unsafe.

Would you guys personally fly(1 hour) or bus(9 hours)?

Personally, I would drive.

In this case I can't justify the cost of a plane ticket when I could drive there and back on a little less than two tanks of gas that would only cost me about $90 bucks.

Flying would be my second choice. I wouldn't take a bus at all.

Does Southwest fly out of AZ? If so hop on one of the 'fun saver fares'; they are like $49 bucks each way!
