Something I noticed today when I stopped by the store:
The ipad mini, with LTE radio, in a "smart cover case" felt heavier than an ipad air wifi with a smart cover.
Now hear me out--I'm not trying to "compare apples to oranges".
If you use the devices with them naked, there is a bit of a difference between the air and the mini.
But my point is that if you use cases or etc with the mini, that the difference between the two has become so minimal that you can actually get the mini and have it be heavier.
This means that weight is really very similar between them on a practical level. It's much more about how you interact with the DIMENSIONS, not the pure size. The mini is just made to pick up and move around so much more casually. It's more mobile and it's kind of made to to be used with a single hand much of the time.
But I don't think weight is any more of a real issue between them unless you use them naked and need every ounce you can get.
