This is gorgeous!
I stopped buying plastic ornaments, figurines or whatever, years ago.
This was an effort to live a simpler life (in terms of possesions) and avoid accumulating superfluous plastic, but I will admit this time I'd be tempted if this became a thing (still woudn't buy).

I feel so dumb, but does anybody know where to vote for it
Yes! The link in the article in the first paragraph IS to the Lego Ideas page with the iMac model! You will have to create an account to vote.

There is a ink in the article!

Thanks, someone had posted a comment that answered my question at the same time I sent mine

Bondi blue is hypnotic. In its time it had a WOW factor just looking at it. Funny enough this week I saw a used G3 bondi blue tower mac on sale at a retro hardware store alongside a Macintosh SE30... as a previous G3 bondi blue owner I couldn't help smiling. Of course the AIO iMac G3 version was a big talking point at the time in so many dynamic colours .... Apple was bold and dynamic in the late 90s. Great times back then when Mac products were fun to use.

Lol, I love when companies do this--framing these sorts of things as "engaging our users' creativity" when it's really a lazy way to get free/cheap product R and D. See also: tricking devs into coding/app contests at software companies where ad hoc teams are given awards for coming up with innovative app ideas in a few days. Screw you, I'm not doing your product R and D for free if it's not my job.

Now that, I would buy day 1.

I actually still have my old Bondi Blue. With the internationals removed, and some big pillows added, as a cat bed.

But it was also the best computer I've ever had, and I miss Mac OS 8's UX dearly.
The internationals removed? Did you deport them to Uganda?

That argument might work in another context, but it just doesn’t match for Lego.

When it comes to decades of Lego sets, laziness and a lack of creativity are not justifiable complaints.

Have a look at the Lego typewriter that has functioning keys, hammers and a carriage return, or the Lego Pac Man console that is actually playable.

Lego are good at that. The single complaint that can be levelled at Lego is the price.

I'm sure Apple will get their 30% cut from this 'developer'.
Lego are actually asked this quite a lot - how much of a cut does a brand partner get? They worked with a load - Star Wars obviouslyand Disney, but also Adidas almost all the premium car and motorbike manufacturers.

But Lego a very strict policy on not saying this publically.

So yes, Apple would get a percentage of the profit of the set, not a once-off fee. But that’s Lego business, not Apple business.

Probably no one would ever be inspired to make a LEGO model of any Apple product that was released while Tim Cook was CEO. Products released under Steve Jobs were iconic. Products released under Cook are forgettable, which is unsurprising considering that Cook is not a products person.

Eh, it needs more refinement. IMO, it doesn't quite capture the essence of the design.

It's way too angular for the iMac G3 which was full of rounded corners and bulbous back side.

Sure, I know that's challenging to do with rectangular block.

True but this iMac wasn’t made by Lego, it!s a fan build and it’s only using standard pieces.

If Lego chooses to put it into production, they’ll refine the concept and might make custom bricks if needed - so the bezel on the front screen would definitely be rounded out.

There have been several Apple Stores, mine included, which made it to 10k on Ideas but weren't produced because so far Apple wont approve the license. I don't think this one will be approved either but you never know.

I’ve seen your Apple Store, most likely. :)

I do think an iconic Mac has far more appeal than a Lego Apple Store ( absolutely no offence meant.

I’d buy an Apple Store., but then, I have a few (not all) Creator Expert modular houses.

It’s the Lego modular / MOC people who would buy a Lego Apple Store. I’m not sure Apple people would, unless they were also seriously into Lego.

I think tonnes of Apple people would buy a Lego Mac, even if they weren’t into Lego, or at least hadn’t been since they were kids.

There’s already a few fan builds of Macintoshes floating around. Lego does beige pretty well. :)

The IDEAS sets usually change a little between "concept" and "product", but I can imagine Lego going for this - it'll sell well for them, and the profit margin on their IDEA S/ "Adult" lego sets is extremely high.

I'd guess it comes down to Apple agreeing or not. If Apple agree, they'd be lunatics not to insist on a unique "Apple Logo" printed/etched brick ( not just a sticker).

Lego is great. I went from playing the lego as a kid to taking apart and rebuilding electronics and then computers. Lego was good training.
Agreed - the Lego Godzilla is a great example of this phenomenon.

As for the Bondi Blue, if they can get a reasonable licensing deal with Apple, "Lego, TAKE MY MONEY!"

Hard to judge the size of it. Without anything to compare it to in the image my brain sees it as really small. I checked the link and didn't see any dimensions listed.
