At this point it might be viable for video equipment rental places to just offer a case full of iPhones to rent out with fitting teapot like things. It is really exiting how much modern Technologie liberated video creation. Just when you look at the iPad Pro and multi streaming live from several iPhones…

Quantity over quality – and I'm not bashing specifically the featured Japanese band.

It's a common media trend in TV (e.g. talk shows with many guests and little time), movies (FX bonanza), music (autotune et similia to fill the void) and even in other fields (e.g. food).

A "just because" experiment for its own sake.

Mother by MUCC [23rd ending theme of Naruto: Shippuden] used several iPads

The obvious difference, I guess, is that this video showcased iPads, the original video didn’t feature iPhone.

I think the fact that 40 cameras were used without any being visible in shot is testament to the usefulness of the small factor technology.

I wonder whether the used applied Final Cut camera app for each set of four iPhones?

I agree with others that the Edit was a bit crazy for me, but I’m in my fifties, what would I know.

Maybe? It's also possible they were rented, loaned as part of a PR deal, or simply bought & returned to the Apple Store.

I'd certainly hesitate to say that 40 cameras are "necessary" but it's a not-terrible way to get a lot of reasonable quality cameras. As an alternative, renting something like a Blackmagic or RED camera could easily be $100-300 a week, plus lenses / tripods / etc.

Oh I dunno. Maybe that it was shot on an item that you can fit in your pocket, not those that take multiple people to operate just one because it weighs a few hundred pounds. Smh.....

4K phone cameras are old news
