Whoa...that thing almost looked human!! Very scary.

And the link stated that she looked like she was breathing.

in the future, will we be able to tell who's human and who's not?

Found some movies here. They're HUGE downloads, though (the second one is this smallest -- 17 MB). Having watched about 10 seconds so far, it looks like it still needs quite a bit of work.

That is really a giant leap in robot technology. Scary in a way. Reminds me of the androids in the Sci Fi movies. The breathing is a neat addition, hope I get to see one up close and personal some day.

To the Japanese, this is big stuff. The marketing-halo flagship products of a lot of the big electronics giants (e.g. Sony) are robots. One company recnetly made one that could walk bipedally down a staircase.

I also once met Dr. Cynthia Breazeal of M.I.T., who helped design a robot called "Kismet", which could spontaneously generate appropriate emotional facial expressions. I'm too lazy to google a link atm.

ps Thank you for the video URLs!

"I've seen things you people wouldn't believe.
Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion.
I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate.
All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain."

Kind of think about it now, it reminds me of the movie 2046 where Faye Wong was the robot waitress on the train. One of the passengers fell in love with her, but she could love him back.

Anyone seen this? Or am i just dreaming?

Nah! I'll stick to my Cherry 2000 until they can fix the kinks in that one. ;)

Anyone know if you can buy one of these asian lady robots yet?

And also, if you can order one with a low power vacuum attachment—preferably around the mouth area?

I want one that looks like Natalie Portman. Then she can bring me coffee in the morning. :p
If you guys keep this up, this thread will hit the pre-Wasteland forum quite quick (aka, Political Forum).

Reminds me of the old MW Kaluta graphics novel (and originally an off-broadway play) "Starstruck". Really trippy stuff, and very unique in the comic world to have the theatre-head sensibility applied to the comic form... costumes & set design & outrageous dialog are central... and of course there's the pleasure droid lost in the middle of all the political shenanigans.

Robots are the way of the future, the Japanese seem determined to corner the market on this coming innovation and seem to be making all the advances lately.

It should make for some more good Sci Fi movies though, as they get closer to becoming a reality.

And perhaps some questions concerning whether or not we can trust having a foreign robot in every home. What if they are all secretly programmed to take over once their numbers reach a certain level?

Meh, it's just too easy to play on peoples fears.
