On my Mac I constantly use option-v to create a √ - is there any way to create a similar character on my iPad?

(I'm jailbroken with iKeyWi if that helps.)

On your iPad open this thread and copy the checkmark symbol. Open the Settings and navigate to General > Keyboard > Shortcuts Select "Add New Shortcut..." paste the symbol as the phrase and give it a shortcut like optv or whatever you'd like.

Now when you type optv it will replace it with the √

You know √ is actually a square root sign right?

LOL I never even noticed the little bit on the end of it! I use it in text-only TextEdit files these days, and that doesn't really show up in the monospace font. Though I've been using it as a checkmark since like 1997, when I worked in a lab where it was used in Excel files. Now that I google images of Key Caps, it was pretty obvious in the OS 9 default font. :)

Wow, so many checkmarks to choose from! :)

The copy/paste worked perfectly, thanks. I assigned it to a key in iKeyWi.
