I was running Disk Utility on my 12" Powerbook and it gave me a "failed with error 5" using whole disk (Apple_HFA: 0): checksum. What does that error mean?

I assume that my hard drive is going to go out any minute. Luckily I backed it up last night.

What exactly did you do to verify your disk? Just click the verify button?

Did you try a Repair? A bad checksum doesn't *necessarily* mean imminent failure, it could just mean a sector or something is bad.
