It’s great to finally have the startup chime back on my 2019 i5 5K iMac. It’s like an old friend returning. Not sure why Apple ever got rid of this iconic chime.

this terminal command brought back the startup chime on my 2017 iMac: sudo nvram StartupMute=%00

Personally I'm glad they got rid of it. I found it disruptive when turning on late at night or in a place other than home.

Personally my iMac never leaves our property.

I love it! It's like an old friend who has returned. I even rebooted my iMac several times just to hear the POST chime again.
