Lower cost iPhone will cannibalize sales of more expensive iPhone. Expect sub $4 billion profit per quarter while Samsung surpasses $10 billion per quarter.

Interesting opinion, 'SteveJobsLover1'

And after looking at your previous posts, I have to say: troll in the dungeon, guys!

Samsung sales are fueled by the anti-Apple group, which is growing daily. They'll gladly pay full price on the newest Samsung phone to give Samsung ammunition against Apple.
People who buy Apple products don't care about quality and features. They just want a phone with an Apple logo on the back. They would gladly trade in their $600 iphone for a cheap, $200 POS from Apple.

The fact that the iPhone 4 and 4S are outselling the iPhone 5 is proof of this.
Why don't you go find a Samsung sight and get the hell out of here!!!!!!!!:D:D:D

Nice try, but Samsung's phones are actually quite decent. The back "plastic" that you Applesexuals complain about doesn't really feel cheap and it's finely engineered to withstand stains and scratches. 1 year and it still looks like brand new while my cheap, tin-can aluminum from Apple is full of scratches after 3 months of use.

yup, things tend to look brand new when they aren't used.

.

I can't see how even a deal with this telecom and a 5c model even would be possible given the income levels in China. Even a subsidized device for $100 would be more than what most people in China make for a few weeks worth of work.

There were 1 million millionaires in China in 2012, compared to 9 million in the US. Even if China is 1/9 of the market of the US (which is a very, very low estimate), then it is worth Apple's time.

The biggest thing you're forgetting is Apple needs to get in there before other manufacturers completely dominate the market.

Do you not know what cannibalization means?
They'll sell a lot of cheap, low-margin 5Cs, but the sales of their high-margin 5S will drop like hell.

Will they drop? Sure, "Drop like hell", probably not. Apple has very talented people in charge of making sure they don't shoot themselves in the foot.

If what you were saying was right the iPod Nano would have killed Apple's iPod revenue.

You're also ignoring the fact that many of the 5C sales will not be to customers who would have bought a 5, they'll be to customers that would have bought a lower cost Android device.

Man, if you land these guys, and secure a cheaper phone for places like India, Apple will get their $700 per share (and $3K from me when the new retina MBP's come out!)

So why is their profit for the last quarter down around $2 billion from the same quarter in the last financial year if these guys were so smart?

Not to imply there is ANY insider knowledge or inappropriate sharing of information since all involved are paragons of virtue and honesty. I just have to laugh at the timing of this when seen next to the large hedge fund investors (including Soros, Icahn) jumping on an "undervalued" Apple.

That fact alone deflates all the trolling that any SteveJobsLover of any number could do.

Low cast debut, the end the Apple era.

So let´s officialy wait for an iphone low cost in the near future, Apple prefer share in the world to keeping Steve philosophy, like this Apple's star will eventually disappear.
Or the Iphone 5c will be for China exclusively. That will be a great strategy.

Mark my words the iPhone 5C is a China exclusive device. Apple has said repeatedly that China is its next big target market. The C stands for CHINA not cheap or color but CHINA.

Maybe iPhone 5C stands for China? ;)

We are both right people, why can't you see that. It will be a China exclusive iPhone. Why else would they make a "Gold" one?

Also all this stuff about the average Chinese worker not being able to afford an iPhone. Whats that? Forget about the average as a whole of China the entire 1.3 billion. Look at just the Population in the major cities. Surely those individuals are making enough to afford an iPhone.

That's probably why Carl Icahn and other investors are pumping money, APPL is rising again, just before the "China launch" which is probably more important that new product releases. Tim Cook went to China to seal the deal with China Mobile and new releases "coincidentally" overlap with "China launch". I know Chinese have iPhone already but China Mobile is a REAL DEAL!

"C" is a flirting game with Chinese. Of course Apple will say "C" is for "color" and of course it won't be China exlusive, but it's definitely targeted for China and most sales will happen there.

You say that with such certainty. This isn't a Steve Jobs Apple any more. I would bet a full pay check it is a China exclusive device.

Lol.... God... havent laughed this much for ages!
May I respectfully ask...what business school you studied? :p
And who is paying your salary? :p

I still don't understand how iPhone 5C will upset the Android Phones. $450.00 is still a steep price for a phone and considering that most people in Asia don't get carrier subsidies/contracts. They have to pay the full price for the phone...

But, competition is definitely good for the customers. Hope for the best!

It is true that most Americans would not dream of buying a phone that cost 2 weeks wages, but that is not out of the question in China or other Asian countries. Many Chinese (especially the young Chinese) are more willing to spend a significant percentage of their income on luxury items which carry status.

I don't think the millionaire crowd is what Apple is trying to secure with a low cost iPhone.

I'm not forgetting anything, I am just trying to say that even the lowest price pointed iPhone in China still represents a significant portion of the average Chinese worker's monthly income.

Huh? Everybody in China is not a slave working in Foxconn factories. Or for that matter in any developing nation.

Why does everybody tend to forget other countries in the list of BRIC nations? Those are emerging markets as well. I read other forums and tech news pertaining to India and the biggest complaint that people have against Apple is that they're too damn expensive (nearly $700 for a 16GB model). If they can manage to launch a cheaper iPhone at say half of that price, people will buy it at the drop of a hat! Pitch that with a recently introduced market strategy of monthly installments, Apple will have a hard time keeping up with the stocks.

looks like Tim Cook's hardwork is starting to bear fruit, he always wanted china to adopt the original apple products.
