Chinese spam bots

Does anyone know what the purpose of the spam bots are? There are no URLs or anything to click on but every once in a while they come here and make multiple accounts and just post multiple post. Floods the forum out and no mods are around to stop them. They always seem to do it when mods are missing too.

Some sort of SEO / Page Ranking effort perhaps?

Makes very little sense to me - the spammers are just another bunch of arrogant cretins who play by different rules.

perhaps, they seem clever....I swear they know when mods are not online. There has to be a reason....You may be right about SEO.
