I used to eat tonnes of chocolate, but I don't any more because I too get bad migraines after eating chocolate...

I'm not a chocoholic, maybe a Hershey's every month or so.

Best chocolate, Nestle's. I cannot name a more delicious chocolate bar. (THEY DON'T SELL IT DOWN HERE!)

The best chocolate, hands down, is Black Hound Chocolate in New York City. You can order it online. I know so many people in other parts of the country who will ONLY order chocolate from here. Not only do they have tasty, European-style truffles, but also wonderful cookies and other treats. They come beautifully packaged, and make great gifts. Almost everyone I send Black Hound chocolates to becomes a convert and then starts sending Black Hound to all of their friends and family too.

They're a little on the pricey side, but well worth it. For serious chocolate lovers only!

Ha! I just had a Scharffen Berger "nibby" bar with a cup of coffee for breakfast this morning. 62% cacao with crunchy cacao nibs mixed in. Perfection. I also love their 82% cacao extra dark chocolate bars.

I've toured the Scharffen Berger factory (twice) and the Hershey's factory (not the theme park ride, but the actual factory)... so, yeah, I guess I'm a chocolate fan.

Wow, no offense but I can't think of two kinds of chocolate that are worse... We americans have been seriously brainwashed when it comes to things like waxy chocolate and especially american cheese...

Ooh, factory tours? Excellent. Now I know what to tell people when my birthday comes around next year. :D

I saw Lindt at my local supermarkets (it was in 6 choco balls in one pack). When I checked the product content label, I have not seen cocoa content percentage info on that label though. I see the regular content info according to FDA rules. If I recall correctly, Lindt chocolate's calorie per unit was quite high (like 100 calories per chocolate).

When my associate from Belgium came here, he gave me the box of Godiva chocolate. I did not feel it had a high cocoa content.

If it has a high cocoa content, they would brag about it and put the percentage right on the label.

It's all about the Toblerone

Toblerone is the s***, but I only buy it at airports. :p I associate Toblerone chocolate with "Duty Free", and I don't know why. I have never thought about buying it in a store.

That's okay!

It is sometimes hard to find up here in Minnesota as well!

I hope I don't develop migraine headaches by start eating chocolate or drinking hot chocolate regularly. So far, I am not affected by that. I think migraine is the pre-existing sympton and chocolate only triggers it instead of causing it.

I think that you need to be predisposed to get migraines from specific foods. Many things such as Genetics, diet, and a few others play into effect. Granted this is all theory, and I am sticking to it, because I love chocolate!

Also, you may want to use this..

No, white chocolate is simply not chocolate for me. It's like a different species, and shouldn't be put in the same category.

And 60% is far too low. Too little cocoa, and too much fat and other stuff. I like the 70% stuff, although 85% is also very good (but not to everyone's tastebuds).

Gah 85% is nothing! My father once accidentaly bought 95%:D

Okay, I was picking up my dinner at Hannford Supermarket (I am traveling for the next few days) and checked out the confectionary aisle for the first time (yes, that's right; I have not been to that area at the supermarkets for about 8 years).
I saw high cocoa content chocolate bar (like 65%). As the other posters said, the packaging shouts the cocoa content percentage. Just for the sake of experimentation, I picked up Hershey's 65% bar (no expensive chocolate at this store).
I tried to taste it tonight; but, I am so full with the dinner now and could not touch other food for the rest of the night. So, I will try tomorrow.

What a great thread. Just so random, I love it. This is why I spend so much time on the internet.

PS. I REALLY like chocolate as well. My fave is probably Kit Kat Chunky. Toblerone is always a nice Christmas treat.

Oh and how can I forget "la creme de la creme";.... Ferrero Rocher!

Wanna know what's good? If you get a chance to have Ferrero Rocher ice cream, I highly recommend it. I hadn't tried it until 2 months ago, and since then, I've seen it on the ice cream "menu" at 3 different places!

If you go that high (95%), does chocolate taste like cocoa powder?

While I like my 85% cocoa chocolate, I think 95% would taste really nasty.

I love dark chocolate; can't stomach white chocolate (with almonds) as it makes me want to hurl.

The heavily processed chocolate found in regular candy bars burns my throat, so I avoid those with the exception of Aero, which is my absolute favourite. :)

It seems if it goes too high (like 95% or 100%), it gets too strong (which does not taste as good). I guess it is like a 100 proof alcohol, unfiltered cigarette, and etc.
By the way, has anyone gained weight because of chocolate eating habit?

I got a little depressed during my freshman year in College and I was addicted to Haagan Daaz Chocolate Peanut Butter ice cream... I think I gained 5-10 pounds in 2 months, although I don't think it was just because of the ice cream, but it sure was a big part of it.

I'm a green and blacks maya gold addict, I have raynaud's syndrome so i need to limit my caffeine intake so that limits my addiction somewhat, I'm also a sucker for green and blacks white in small quantities, oh and anything expensive and dark, I'm not too big a fan of things sweet, so the more bitter and flavoursome it is the better unfortunately that means it'll have a higher caffein content...
