If you want the ultimate response and precision, wired is still better. Logitech G5 will not dissapoint.

Thanks for all the input. I think I want to stay with wired mice. A wireless keyboard is one thing, but there is nothing worse, than a mouse with a dying battery jittering all over the screen. I was planning on also getting a logitech gaming keyboard but I have decided to go with the apple keyboard without the numpad so it can fit in my keyboard tray.

I got the Logitech MX Revolution a couple months back; that with SteerMouse application, couldn't be happier with the customization. It allows me to customize mouse buttons per application. The nice this about this mouse is that its battery can lasts for a couple weeks on a charge and it charges up quick. Even when it get low battery I've never found a problem with it becoming "jittery". Go logitech you will be happy that you did.

Well how about a Razer Diamondback? =)

And Joe, you shouldnt use your real name as your handle... and at 14 I hope you wait a little longer before deciding what you want to do with the rest of your life -- cause "server admin" or "IT specialist" sounds pretty damn boring to me...

What, are you gonna come find me? No reason, I can't start preparing for the future. I'm getting my microsoft, and cisco certification over the summer. Don't try and tell me I can't do something because I'm not old enough. Didn't steve jobs start off at a young age?

Back to mice, I'm going to be buying Logitech, for sure, so I think I'll just go to some stores and try them out, and hope they have the ones I like.

i got sick of apple's mickey mouse on my Mini and now use my Microsoft mouse with it. i'm back in right click heaven

I totally see your point. I use my computer for hours every day, and I am an intern and training to become a server admin and IT specialist. so that makes me think that I shouldn't think too much about the price. But at 14, without a steady income numbers like that scare me. But I have saved a few K over the years. I've pretty much narrowed it down to the 518, the M500, and I think I'll put the Revolution back in the running even though it is so expensive. What also bothers me is that I can only get it for mac, or pc, but I'd like to be able to use it later on, on my high end custom built computer.

i was looking around yesterday and some of the new MS wireless mice you can recharge them via the USB port

I just use a Genius X-Scroll Mouse with its 3 button. Only costs about $6. In some mouse, the scroll wheel tends to malfunction in time. So far this one still works well. It's size and physical shape also fits well in my hand.

I also have the MacAlly White mouse but prefers the touch on the Genius.

Logitech all the way
Currently using an LX6 which is a top product and very comfortable (something Apple still is yet to figure out is errr 'relatively?' important when it come to mouse design)

I have an MX518 and its perfect with USB overdrive. It would be nice if Logitech had their own prefpane for it, but i use usb overdrive for my keyboard too, so i might as well use it for my mouse.

I use an MX 518 on 10.6 with steermouse, and it's the best mouse I've ever used. I really like logitech mice in general.

A couple months ago, I went from the Logitech MX Revolution to a Performance MX; both are great mice; the latter is newer and there is a physical switch to toggle between the smooth and geared scroll… and yes the Performance MX does work on glass.

A problem I did find was that the Performance MX uses a NiMH battery (which is inferior to Lithium cells), but charges with a USB cable to charge (so you can charge it and use it at the same time) and the battery is AA-sized and can be replaced quite easily without any tools; the MX Revolution uses the a Lithium battery, but uses a charging cradle (so you can't charge and use at the same time; battery replacement is almost impossible). Personally, I do not use the rechargeable battery, so I cannot comment on battery life, but Energizer Ultimate Lithium batteries in the Performance MX lasts a bit over a week of continuous use.

Good luck and happy hunting.
