Just because a hacker puts up a screenshot of Cydia on an iPhone5 screen does not mean a ready for general release jailbreak is anywhere close.

If you recall 3 different hackers did the same thing on the day the iPhone4S was released.

That jailbreak took until 5.0.1 was released.

I'm thinking a minimum of one month but a more likely time is 2-3 months. iOS6 is very buggy and I have a feeling there's going to be a massive 6.1 update coming at the end of the year and they will want to wait for that.

hopefully Apple is more focused on fixing the Maps and other issues rather than worrying about the jailbreak community

iPad 3 jailbroken in under 24 hours, still took 3 months for the public download to be available.

That is valid for the A4 devices ; eg IP4 on a tethered JB, i haven't seen any comments on the chpwn's JB method....

No way a jailbreak for iOS 6 is released before January/February. Chpwn is likely using the same dev account hack he was last time. All it's good for is helping find a bug that can be exploited on a stock phone. It's going to be a while before anybody see's a working iOS 6 jailbreak. I have almost gotten to the point that I don't even bother jailbreaking anymore. Apple has integrated alot of the features I use to jailbreak for and other than tetherme (which I rarely use anymore) there are no apps I have to have. The iPhone customization scene has gone downhill fast in the last year and a half. If you want something to timker with then buy an Android. I bought a Galaxy S3 this summer because the customization scene is so much better.

I would sign up for a dev account and pay the money required if it meant I can install cydia.

Last week a dutch team won PWN2OWN mobile 2012 with taking down iOS5/6 safari, who knows what the near or distant future brings.

It will be some time before a public jailbreak.

Everytime we have a new firmware level, the n00bs always rush into claiming the jailbreak will be out any day.

And those of us who know better, just chuckle since we know these release day jailbreaks are done via developer tools which cannot and will not be useful for a general release jailbreak.
