I sent the iPhone X to family home for Christmas present to me. I just helped family member pre-order it at launch time for the fear of massive backorder delay early in the process. Surprisingly, I was able to lock one down for launch day delivery. Looking at these forums makes me incredibly nervous, not about the notch or FACEID but the tall order of complaints about the quality of the screen, screen size, usability of the screen, etc. etc. SCREEN. It makes me want to take a visit and open the X and play with it to make sure it works and has no deformities or else I wait until Christmas to open it, find problems and can't return it because it's past the 14 day return policy.

I'm coming from a 6s so the upgrade would be awesome but because I had the balls to come to these forums and see people writing about having problems right out of the box, civil war arguments between other iPhone users and Android users about who's got the best out of this year's releases. I shouldn't be feeling insecure like this and I know the forum is a small group compared to the millions out there but I surf these forums to be aware of possible issues popping up.

Does Apple make exceptions to customers for returns who pre-ordered it, received it launch day and don't open it until Christmas?

They do not. I would not wait to open it and test it out because if it is defective, you will received a brand new in box replacement. If you wait until Christmas, you more than likely will not receive a new replacement.

I figured. I guess I'm gonna have to open it next weekend and not anything to open for Christmas.
