Chrome Average Energy Impact issue

I've noticed a lot of spikes in what Chrome uses, at least according to the monitor. I was wondering if this is normal, or if there's something wrong with my install. Any flags that can help mitigate the issue would also be quite helpful.

Chrome is very inefficient with the resources. While I'd be interested in any configuration changes as well, I don't think there are any to improve its footprint.

Not to get anyone's hopes up, but it seems much better than before in terms of energy use.

They have been pushing out lots of updates.

At the same time, while it has gone down from the 4.7k impact to 533... it's still way more than Safari rarely hitting 150 for me while doing the same thing.
