Chrome Dock Icon Mystery

At some point, the Chrome dock icon on my MacBook Air (13-inch, Mid 2013; OSX 10.10.3) disappeared, now looking like this (see arrow):

I tried (a couple of times) uninstalling Chrome and its prefs using AppCleaner, and then reinstalling it. Of course, before that, I also tried shutting down and restarting the computer.

Nevertheless, the dock icon for Chrome is still missing.

How can I restore the Chrome dock icon?

Close down Chrome! Remove the Crome icon in the Dock. Then open your Applications folder and find Chrome. Highlight Chrome and then do a GetInfo on it. When the get Get Info window open up, in the top left corner should be the icon control hightlight that small window and the hit the Delete key, then close the Get Info window. Lastly now open up Chrome and see if this helps.

Did you try their latest release. It came out just on 12th of August. See if that helps.
