Cool, but I'm still sticking to Safari. It already has that kind of feature for quite a while.
This sort of thing has been suggested on occasion... the best browser to use is the one that came from your manufacturer. So Edge for Windows computers, Safari for Apple stuff, Chrome for Android. They're most optimized for the hardware they'll be for.

Google chrome, no thanks I'm already watching too many ads and being tracked way to much! I go to a lot of crazy websites just to throw off the trackers!

How to get Reader Mode on Google Chrome in 6 easy steps:

Step 1: Tap and hold the Google Chrome app in your home screen
Step 2: Delete the Google Chrome app
Step 3: Go to Safari
Step 4: Tap on the "aA" icon next to the address bar
Step 5: Tap on "Show Reader"
Step 6: yay 👍

yeah I haven't used chrome in years due to the lack of this feature alone

Apple has the least painful poison compared to Google.
If you use the full stack from one company (hardware, OS, application) it likely puts you at a larger risk than using hardware from one company, an OS from a second company and an application from a third because those three companies are unlikely to have all their interests align with each other.

People should be aware that the Chrome browser was only invented to collect user data for personalized Google ads. Tests have shown that even with privacy settings of Chrome set to a maximum the browser still collects significantly more data than any other browser on the market. Even much more than the other browsers that are based on the same Chromium engine.

Not sure how Apple can stop that data collection. Google puts a lot of effort into tracking users even if they do not want to be tracked. Location data is a good example for that. Even if you do not provide Google access to your GPS coordinates, Google will still get you location based on the WIFI networks that it has mapped with its Street View cars and the IP adresses of the user. You can only prevent that with a VPN. If a user rejects Google cookies, they will still try to identify him through measures like browser fingerprinting.

Every Google app or service is basically spyware and that fact is the main reason to buy an iPhone instead of an Android phone. Why would you spend $999 or even more on an iPhone and then use a Google browser anyway?

This may sound silly but the one feature I wish any other iOS/iPad browser besides Safari would offer is a bookmarks/favorites bar. Safari for iPad has a bookmarks bar but no other browser does; getting to my bookmarks takes multiple taps on every other browser.

Keeping up with the competition. Safari has safe browsing, Firefox has safe browsing.
But seriously, it’s absurd that Google was shipping a browser without phishing and malware protection in 2022. IE7 had that! Firefox had it built in before Chrome was even announced and had it via extensions before that! And, as noted in the article, Chrome for desktop and Chrome for Android have used it for years. Seems like Chrome for iOS is more of an afterthought for Google, but, then again, iOS is always an afterthought for Google’s developers. Look at how long it takes them to support new OS features (they usually don’t get around to it after a major release until after the next major release has come out, they’re perpetually 18 months behind the iOS feature curve).

From my observations, it's been more common than you think. I've known people to get a MacBook or iPhone, but not really use any advantages of the platform...
--They don't develop iOS apps
--They're not creative types
--They don't use any apps nor services that are iOS exclusive
--They're otherwise not invested into the Apple ecosystem

At the end of the day, they just like having a computer with that "Apple" logo on the cover. They sure as hell don't care about privacy when they use YouTube and Google. And they're on Facebook 30 minutes to an hour per day.

Whenever I had the chance, I've been asking people if there was any particular reason they choose iOS over Android, and vice versa. A lot of common responses include but not limited to:
--It was recommended by someone they know
--"It just works"
--They like it, or gotten used to it
--They just want a phone that can make calls. Perhaps take some pictures
Some of them would still be using flip phones if they could.
