Chrysler Vehicles Hacked Over Internet

This brings up a big question of what happens when we have self driving cars at some point. Will there be some way to manually override the vehicle if it is hacked? A security issue could really cause a huge safety problem for drivers.

Not surprising.

Embedded device security is a joke, to the point of being nearly nonexistant. The current fascination with connecting everything to the internet must be matched with an understanding that this makes it a target and that steps must be taken to secure it. So far, it hasn't.

The problem with Wi-Fi or Cellular connection to the Internet and car manufactures are going to have security teams to harden the car electronics!
