Really liking it. I am coming from a 1.3 ghz MBA with 4 GB of ram. running Lightroom on it is an entirely different experience. Not much of a gamer so I can't comment on that but the machine is quiet, runs cool, the screen is phenomenal, and the new SSD makes everything feel significantly more responsive.

I haven't edited video on it yet but I am looking forward to that as well.

Having more than 4GB on Lightroom is probably the best choice you could've made :p

Super confused.

I just got my 2.5 GHz/m370x rMBP and ran compubench to compare the upgrade against the Air i have been using for 2+ years.

The results I got in compubench are for some reason nowhere near the results in the compubench database (this compares the new card to the 750m https://compubench.com/compare.jsp?...9+M370X&D2=NVIDIA+GeForce+GT+750M+Mac+Edition)

I am plugged in, automatic graphics switching was turned off, and nothing else was running.

Here are my results (in parenthesis are the ones in the compubench database for this GPU):

Face Detection: 5 Mpixels/s (24.4 Mpixels/s)
Optical Flow: 1.8 Mpixels/s (5.7 Mpixels/s)
Ocean: 85.2 frames/sec (510 frames/sec)
Particle: 41.3 Minteractions/sec (218 Minteractions/sec)
Video Composition: 2.2 frames/sec (36.7 frames/sec)
Bitcoin: 5.1 MHash/sec (126.4 MHash/sec)

Does anyone know why I'm getting such drastically different results?

Probably shouldn't be in this thread, since I use an iMac, but what the hell.

Here are my results when I press the Start All Button.

Face Detection: 3.8513 Mpixels/s
Optical Flow: 1.2623 Mpixels/sec
Ocean: 77.77 Frames/sec
Particle: 34.522 Minteractions/sec
T-rex: 0.43988 Frames/s
Video Composition: 2.1451 frames/sec
Bitcoin: 6.0976 MHash/sec

Horrible, no?

And when I press the Test Select Button, and check the m290x compute engine, I get this.

Face Detection: 53.595 Mpixels/s
Optical Flow: 13.133 Mpixels/sec
Ocean: 1001.8 Frames/sec
Particle: 315.33 Minteractions/sec
T-rex: FAILED
Video Composition: 76.565 frames/sec
Bitcoin: 310.14 MHash/sec

While it might have been nice to see the T-Rex sequence at a decent framerate, the real lesson of this is--

Check to see that Compubench isn't running strictly on the CPU. Your CPU is stronger than mine at some things, weaker at a few. I'll chalk it up to Hyperthreading.

has anyone on this thread every gamed or done intensive tasks day in and day out on any MacBook Pro? I just want to make sure that this computer can handle this type of use case.

Yes it can. I worry more about the heat in the power supply than the Mac. That brick gets too hot to touch sometimes.

I'm sure this has been stated.. but Cinebench's OpenGL benchmark is useless... The M370x isn't really all that great and I guess in the macbook, it's even worse. hmm good to know. The M370X should be at least getting better than what I posted below. easily

To compare to a pretty powerful card, here is my 760M:

Face Detection: 24.502 Mpixels/s
Optical Flow: 8.7053 Mpixels/sec
Ocean: 765.04 Frames/sec
Particle: 226.73 Minteractions/sec
T-rex: 2.2838Frames/s
Video Composition: 47.643 frames/sec
Bitcoin: 56.021 MHash/sec
