I got two Mac Minis: an older I7 and the new M1.

They are both connected on one Apple Cinema 30 via ATEN KVM Switch CS1642A (supports DUAL LINK DVI).
The M1 goes over OWC Thunderbolt 3 Docking Station.

I7 takes it easy.
M1 takes it personally: When turning on or restarting, the M1 won't show the native resolution of the Cinema 2560*1600. It shows some crappy 1600 or something. I have to switch it manually to 2560 every time which is crazy.

Any workaround?

On my 2014 Mac mini, using an Apple OEM mini-DP to DL-DVI adapter with the 30" Cinema Display, it begins the boot up process at what looks like 1280x800 or something, but then once Monterey has partially loaded, it automatically switches to the native 2560x1600.

Maybe you need a different connection than through that docking station.

Just wanna update you, friends.
The solution is SwitchResX. No, I am NOT affiliated with this company.

If you're dealing with such issues like me, you can set diff. profiles for apps forcing them to switch to the desired resolution. For my needs I just said: for FINDER switch to 2560x1600, and thanks God it does it on Big Sur finally, which saves me a couple of minutes and nerves every day.
