Cinema + iMac G5 = my own pixel estate?

My 17" iMac G5 (rev. 2, stock configurations) feels a little cramped when it comes to pixel real estate and when using Final Cut Express, and if I were to buy a 20" or 23" Cinema display, could I hook it up to my iMac and have one giant estate of pixel perfection?

I'm also planning on upgrading to the Mac Pro, so I'd have a screen for that already.

Would it work?

Yeah, it will work with spanning! So you can have the combined power of the 17+20/23" displays to put all your work on!

Wouldn't work.

The iMac G5 doesnot suppport monitor spanning without a hack.
Also it has no digital video out put which the ACDs need.

What you need is Screen Spanning Doctor, Mini VGA Adapter and a display that accepts analog Input (VGA)

I forget, but can't you only hook up a display that has 1920x1200 resolution? Cause the 30"er would look nice. 🙂
