Hi,

I am playing around in a Cinnamon desktop on my iMac G5 running ppc64 Debian and I found out that the panel and menu are all red colored. Can it have something to do with bad graphics rendering ? I have a Radeon card X600 XT in this machine.

Jeroen

That's on my MacPro 5.1 running Manjaro with Cinnamon.

Hehe, I know. But when you right click on the panel and go to the settings, the panel changes to red. This is a Cinnamon "thing". So maybe check that.

It stays red all the time, even if you open and close panel settings.

I think it's your system trying to put up a red flag, and tell you that Cinnamon is too bloated for it. Seriously though... it's far too bloated for older hardware. And I personally wouldn't even run it on a threadripper.

FYI
I built the whole cinnamon desktop from the ground up, using linux mint debbie 4 sources and I end up with the exact same result. I now know that is has nothing to do with a bug in cinnamon as found in Debian sid ppc64. It has to do with the graphics card in my iMac G5, being unable to render cinnamon in a normal way. Maybe also because G5 is not good enough.

For the record, I am experiencing the same behavior in Void ppc64 Linux. Firefox ESR works better in Void as compared to Debian ppc64. No color problems. Pretty impressive distribution!
