I can confirm that Cisco VPN Client 4.9.01 (0080) works with Leopard. Re-install the client if you're doing an upgrade.

hanschien, so if my school has the 0030 version on their website (what I'm using now), it would be perfectly okay to download 0080 and it'll work fine with my schools network with Leopard?

Running a different version from the rest of the school won't affect anything? Thanks.

The Archive and Install will remove some of Cisco's files, so you'll need to reinstall Cisco after you do the install.

Then you aren't using the latest version like I posted above from MacUpdate. Most universities won't post Cisco VPN client updates for months after they actually come out.

It works in the final version, however I have to restart to reconnect to the network (or if I change my proxy settings) or I will get an error message saying I have to be connected to a network.

Would it be safe for me to download 0080 or would that mess up my connection to the school's supportd 0030 version?

I went from 0030 to 0080 and I can still connect to my office with it. I'm pretty sure you won't lose your connectivity.

Thanks. I had to have my Resnet school office activate my VPN through passwords and whatnot so if I downloaded 0080 I would probably have to go to them to activate it.

EDIT: I tried to download 0080 from that link provided by Sbrocket and when I click to download it brings me to a never-ending loading page filled with weird symbols and letters. No download occurs. Has it been disabled?

The weird looking symbols and letters are the contents of the DMG/ZIP/whatever you're downloading. Your browser is treating it as an enormous text file.

Go back, and right-click on the link, and select "Save Link to Desktop" (or something to that effect).

My Cisco VPN 4.9.00 did not work for me after installing leopard. I tried re-installing, but it would not work. I upgraded to 4.9.01 and everything worked fine. It recognized all my old configuration and connected beautifully.

You'll need the very latest version of the Cisco VPN client for it to work with Leopard, available here if your company or university hasn't posted it yet:

Just wanted to say thanks man. I downloaded the new version from the link you provided and I can now VPN once again. Upgrading to Leopard did hose my Cisco client and getting the newest version fixed the problem. I will take my Windows-centric company months to get this file!

Thanks again.

Both PPTP and Cisco VPN work fine for me in Leopard. Its been stated a few times already but if you're doing an upgrade install or an archive install, you may need to uninstall the VPN client via Terminal (sudo /usr/local/bin/vpn_uninstall) then reinstall the latest universal binary.

Version 4.9 (0030 and 0080) should work.

CISCO for Leopard

I've just downloaded CISCO 4.9.01 and installed it on my PowerBook G4 after upgrading to Leopard and it works fine... it even copied all my settings over from my previous VPN.

Latest version of CISCO VPN CLIENT works perfectly with LEOPARD.
Remember to disable "back to my mac" first
I hope this help

Oh, so if I didn't touch my current school's VPN and then upgraded or did an Archive & Install, it wouldn't still be there after it's finished installing? I would have to download it again?

This is a little problem because I need my school to give me the passwords and the computer office isn't open until tomorrow morning.

success with latest version

The University of Colorado at Boulder ITS people have a policy to not make the latest version of the Cisco VPN client available because "it's usually not necessary." As a result I have been using 4.9.00.005 (the latest they have posted) and of course it does not work under Leopard. But I downloaded 4.9.01.0080 from MacUpdate a few minutes ago and it works just fine. It even had the connection entry points from the previous, but non-functional, version. Thanks for the tip.

While this does work it is only temporary in my case. I must periodically repeat these steps for some reason. This is on a MBP. I'll try to track down the conditions under whish it occurs but has anyone else seen this happen?

Can you guys with the VPN client go into Disk Utility? Do you see something on the left hand side related to the Cisco VPN client?

Whenever I do this, Leopard is finding a "disk" that doesn't exist but has something to do with the Cisco VPN (4.9.01).

I'm having problems with my computer not going to sleep automatically and I wonder if this might be the problem.

4.9.01 (0080) is working for me. It did give me the error message (can't remember exactly what it said) upon startup once, but after a reboot it worked again. So not perfect, but functional.

BTW: WWDC was 5 months ago. I don't think you can use that release as a gauge of how Leopard works now.

I can confirm, Cisco VPN Client v4.9.01(030) works perfectly with Leopard. This is with an 'upgrade' install of Leopard..

is there a way to configure the build-in client to connect to a cisco vpn?

My company uses IPsec over TCP. With group authentication.

Has anyone had success getting version 4.9.01.0080 to work on a CLEAN install of Leopard? Or, has anyone got it working AFTER installing it on Leopard? (as opposed to installing it on Tiger and then upgrade to Leopard).

Thanks,

Sabesh.

Cisco VPN 4.9.01 (0080)

I am running the MBP C2D 2.4. with Leopard

I have installed the Cisco VPN Client 4.9.01 (0080) and created the profile but it just will not connect.

I have it running off a wireless connection within my office and not logged into the domain at all.

My work Dell machine logs in with no problem when connected to a outside wireless connection.

Can some one tell me if the problem I am having is due to using a wireless connection with my office and not an outside one? Or is it an incompatibility issue between my Mac and our Microsoft servers? Or is there another internal setting that I have to set for this to work?

Thanks.
