My first time using this program was to get the 12 Pro Max. Can you tell me the process of upgrading to a new device? Just order on Apple Store app like normal?

Usually, soon after the event finishes, you will have an option in the "For You" section of the Apple app to basically get everything set up in advance of your pre-order which will likely happen on the 17th. You get pre-approved for the Upgrade Program again, and set up all the info you need so that pre-order will be as quick and simple as possible. When you pre-order, you choose the Upgrade Program.

If you choose to pick up your new phone in store, you hand them your old one at that time. If you have the new phone shipped to you, you will receive a separate kit in the mail to send back your old phone.

It's all very streamlined and easy.

I would add that after the 13's are announced, use the Apple Store app on your iPhone to first navigate to the new phone that you want and make it a "Favorite". That way, when ordering time comes up you first select the "Upgrade Now" option from the Apple Store app (under "For You" as pointed out above) and then select the new iPhone from your Favorites list. In my experience, selecting a pre-Favorited device really expedites the transaction process and helps get your order in faster during the fury of first-day ordering.

Note that since you're already on the Upgrade program, at the time you upgrade to a 13 you'll be notified that you have to make any remaining payment up through your 12th payment.

Been using apple upgrade program last 2 years. Pretty much what previous post have said. After event you will get notified or once store updates. I've done everything via store app.
