Clamshell mode with no external display?

Is there a way to do this? I have tried plugging a mouse in while closed but the computer doesn't wake up. Is there a way to activate clamshell without an external display being plugged in?

If you use the F1 key to turn it off, then yes.

Nevermind, I do see that the screen does automatically turn off when the lid is closed without needing to turn the brightness all the way down
