The switch in Option #1 is dirt cheap and will work fine and is the easiest way to go.

I checked on Monoprice. I see a few 8 port switches like the one I bought, not 4. The 8 port 10/100 is still pretty cheap though ($9) and the 10/100/1000 is $25. Would it matter if I got the 10/100 or 10/100/1000 for this purposes? I might eventually add an AppleTV into the mix.

I see some 5 port 10/10/1000 ones on Amazon, but those start around $30

Am I missing a cheaper solution friends?
