I wonder how many of 15 million Classic iPads will be upgraded to iPad 2. 1 million?

I am waiting for the next version to come out. I did play with the new one today and was very impressed. It felt a lot a lot faster and smoother than the first gen. As a teacher, I would love to have mirroring without having to use a jailbreak.

I stood in line for three and a half hours to get one and it was worth every minute! LOVE the second for the improved speed alone.

Nope, It's not a good enough of an upgrade yet, with the low megapixel cameras and same resolution screen. If I didn't already have an iPad, then I definitely would get the iPad 2, but I'm going to wait for the iPad 3. I really really want a smaller iPad. About the same size as the galaxy tab, but not just a larger ipod, it needs to be an iPad so that it has 3G (or 4G) connectivity and GPS. Gotta have those features. And a retina display, definitely. This would be awesome. I know there's been rumors of a smaller device, so here's to hoping it comes true.

I don't think so at the moment. I don't need the cameras, but the speed and smart cover would be nice. Still, I really would like an improved screen, and plan on waiting for the iPad 3.

Nope, won't upgrade. I checked it out in person today and I'm not upset about it at all. Nothing mind-blowing from the first. It looks and feels like a gigantic iPod touch.

...and the original didn't? It will always be a huge screen with iOS.

I think that's the great thing about having already had an iPad. That 'new device' feel has passed, and I've gone from my iPad high to 'it's cool to have'. If I hadn't gotten the first one, I probably would have stood in line, but I think all idevices are best purchased every other generation. That seems to cut down on any possible annual buyer's remorse.

So I'll be patiently waiting for iPad3, and seriously hoping this time Apple is smart enough to re-implement the pre-order system.

Having an iPhone 4, why do you feel compelled to need 3G and AGPS ?

Since when is it the "Classic iPad"? You say it like it's an actual brand name.

It's iPad, or iPad 1st gen, or the old iPad.

Nope. Just got the old one so cheap I couldn't justify getting the new one, il wait for iPad 3. That will be a jump!

I was referring to the particular shape and design of this one. It shares the same one as the current touch.

Don't get so defensive about your giant iPod.

When I was in line Friday, 12 out of the 15 people around me in line were upgrading from the original.

Yes have one on order that should be here this week. Figured might as well while the resale value of the original ipad is still pretty good. Won't get near the value if I waited to sell for the ipad 3.

No, going to hold off for iPad 3 but will prob buy a new MacBook Air if they are released around June or July.

I don't have an iPad 2, so I have nothing to be defensive about.

...but people have been calling it a giant iPod touch since it's launch last year. The new one is not more of a giant iPod touch than the previous generation, as they do the exact same things. If you're basing it on looks alone, then sure. But Apple is creating a more consistant-looking product line, with each taking inspiration from the other.

The ratio of Yes/No so far is 30/20. Wow. 10 million Classic iPads will be flushed down the food chain. Wow. What a tsunami. :D
