iPod Classic ipod sick how to fix

I've been meaning to get this fixed for the longest time my ipod classsic 80 gb suddenly started skipping tracks then would finally give me a error saying it was sick and now won't work at all(won't turn on) can I replace my hard drive in it ? if so how ? what tools will I need ? and how would I reformat the hard drive ?
