Savegame bug causes loss of savegame

Well, it's a great game but I've been bitten by the savegame bug that some others are experiencing too.

The game looks like it uses iCloud for save games and there is a known issue on the carmageddon web site where it doesn't always load the saved game data properly and so shows no saved games.... kill the app through task switcher and try again and it should show up...

I've had this a couple of times and restarting the app has always fixed it without losing any of my save data.

I'm guessing as it is listed as a known issue there will be an update coming soon to fix it.

Didn't work for me.

However they've updated their help page:

Carmageddon iOS supports Game Center. If a Game Center profile is successfully signed in, your save game will be associated with it. If your save game slot has disappeared, please make sure you are signed into Game Center and re-load the game - you should now see your save game slot.

**EDIT**

We have found in a few cases the following steps have made the save slot reappear. We are continuing to look into this issue to resolve it.

If you find your save data is missing, DO NOT MAKE A NEW SAVE.
Close the app including from the task bar.
Make sure you have a good 3G or wifi connection
Go to Settings and turn on Airplane Mode
Launch Carmageddon again
Close the app again
Turn Airplane mode back off again
Wait for either wifi or 3G single to connect again
Launch Carmageddon, saves should be present
The second set of steps fixed it for me. Yay! But oh dear, rather involved for non-techies.

Seems to be something to do with forcing the app to reset its save path mechanism when opening it in airport mode. (Save files don't show up there though - only when the app is relaunched in connected mode)
