Claude vs Open source local LLM

I use an M3 16gb MacBook to develop websites. Full stack.

I’also using Claude on Pro plan BUT:
- the token consumption is not clear, today with opus 4.7 and 1 pretty simple question it consumed 22%
- This week I switched to sonnet bicoastal with opus my % raise so fast, way faster than before
- I read that they are “testing” to remove Claude Code from Pro plan

I never looked into local open source LLM but I guess is time to understand if I really need Claude to:
- convert layout from PNG to HTML, CSS, JS
- do some pretty simple vanilla PHP

I could keep Claude for more difficult task

Try the open source LLMs and compare it against Claude and see if it fits the bill for you

There are several around. I was wondering if anybody did some comparison.
