I will be trying to perform a clean install of Mountain Lion via USB onto my 500 GB hard drive today. Right now my hard drive is split between OS X and a Windows 8 Release Preview Bootcamp partition. I already disabled Filevault for the time being since I've heard that some people have had issues with it, but will I also need to erase my Bootcamp or can I simply clean install Mountain Lion onto my existing OS X partition? Also, I've heard that restoring via Time Machine backup after a clean install actually negates the benefits of the clean install itself. If that's the case, is there a way for me to properly retrieve most of my files/apps without making a clean install pointless? Right now I have a Time Machine setup with my 1 TB external hard drive. Any answers will be very much appreciated.
