How do you do a clean install ?

Install the iOS then " Erase contacts and settings " Then setup as new iphone and manually re-add apps ?

Is this correct, or do i have to do it via iTunes ?

Im asking because i've upgraded my SE to 11.2 and the battery life is exactly the same as 11.1.2

If you want a clean clean install. Do a backup just in case. Put phone into recovery mode and when asked plug device into your Mac/pc with iTunes already open. Immediately it should start to take you through the steps to install latest iOS. Now this process wipes the device entirely, downloads a fresh os and installs it on your phone.

You have the option to either set up as new or restore a backup. Of course if all your apps just need logging into to get to stuff I’d go the as new route!

How do i get into recovery mode on an SE

Time will tell. It should take between 24 and 48 hours to settle down and you will hopefully see positive results after that!

Thanks, the battery is about 72% and its been on since 7am this morning ( its now 5:15pm ) so not bad at all...
Why do i have to wait 24-48 hours ? thanks

Usually the first cycle or two after an update can be a bit diffeent than typical as there are still some things that the system does beyond typical after an install. Usage can vary at times as well as sometimes people try/do more after a new update. Plus it's usually good to go by more than one cycle as there are some noticeably worse or better cycles at times that can be diffeent than typical.

Exactly! It gives enough time for the battery levels to settle so you get a better gauge of how your battery will last.

To add your phone does all sorts of background activities and wouldn’t give real usage that you would get after it’s done all that stuff.

Plus the entire process gives you an opportunity to have as clean a os as possible.

How’s it going for you?

Been a minor improvement, to be fair i keep my brightness on 100% and play a few video games so this could be using a lot of battery up.

It seems to charge loads faster though.

So ever since clean install on my SE and not restoring from backup, the “ghostly location services icon doesn’t stay on for me. This is strange, worrisome and great all at the same time. It’s great because it is similar behavior to 10.3.3, but it is worrisome because from day one of iOS 11 (all the way to 11.2), it was always there. The description says it is there to show that stuff can have access to your location but isn’t currently using it so I am not sure what is going on .

Might backup and then hard reset and then see if it comes back after a week of use and the phone isn’t behaving the same (location reminders, learning my contexts of use based on location after a week, etc).

Has anyone else experienced this?

EDIT: Nvm, soft reset fixed it and the icon is showing hollow all the time now.

Brightness at 100% while playing an intensive video game = battery funeral. R.I.P.

Ia there a way to carry forward what you want instead of full back and restore?
