so, i did a clean snow leopard install (MBP '11 - 4gb RAM) and i was wondering and i was wondering if it's normal that my system preference window reads 32-bit? shouldn't that be 64-bit?

i'm new to mac, so forgive me if i ask stupid questions.
thank you.

I think it's in some aspects both 32 bit and 64 bit. It's not all or nothing like Windows(correct me if I'm wrong)

hey thank you for your time. you could be right i found somewhere that every every MBP '11 runs in 64-bit by default. it's just that i never noticed before that the main system preference window read 32-bit. i installed gamepad compagnon after the clean install and the 32-bit notification seems to show up after i work with that program. you are probably right.
thanx!

I think it depends on many factors. If you have a 3rd party item in system preferences that might be the culprit.
