    Hi

Today after 6 months of use I decided to clean my apple wireless keyboard. So I turned it off and took all the keys out and cleaned it with damp paper towels. (not dripping, just damp)

After am hour or so of cleaning I placed all the keys back and tried it out again. I had to set it up again with my Macbook Pro so I followed the bluetooth setup assistant instructions. The keyboard got detected right away and then asked me to enter a string of numbers and then hit return to pair the keyboard. I tried using the regular numbers as well as the number keypad's keys but it doesnt seem to detect any input. Then my mac tells me that the pairing attempt was unsuccessful.

I thought that it may be the batteries that were too old so I replaced them with brand new ones tonight but I get the same results.

What else I could try? :(

Remove the batteries and leave it for an hour (as annoying as that is), then try it again. Also, try to remove it from your Bluetooth devices in System Preferences before re-adding it. :)

Pretty easy. Use a fork or knife or something to pry them off. :)

Wouldn't a small crowbar be a tad more civilized? :D

But I guess we are not helping the OP much.

dumb question, but you hit enter after typing the passkey in right? Also numlock wasn't on.

I say this because when i first did it I didn't hit enter and it didn't get it (pretty sure it was the apple BT keyboard, may have been different one). Then another time the numlock was off.

    It now works

Last night before going to bed, I took all of the batteries out and let it "dry" over night. I was afraid that maybe some moisture go inside.

This morning I just placed the batteries back again, turned it on, went through the bluetooth setup and voila this time it worked!

I am so relieved now. I was afraid that I had broken my favorite keyboard.

After cleaning it, the keyboard feels as great as it did the first day I got it.

    thanks to all!

BTW, the keys are very easy to pull out and to put back on. What it is hard is acrtually cleaning it.
