I'm trying to compile footage for my demo reel for my final class at school. One portion of my footage is from a video on which I was boom operator. I'd like to use this experience, but the audio isn't the best because we filmed on a boat and the shotgun mic picked up the noises of the boat passing through the water. The dialogue is clear, but the noise from the water really brings down the quality.

Is there any way to clean up the excess noises?

Audacity has a profile-subtraction noise reduction feature that works pretty well.
If you don't mind commercial software iZotope RX has a visual spectrum analyzer that does precision editing.
