Cleaning dust out of the Lightning port was very easy. Take a little paper clip and you can drag out the dust pretty easy. I've done it for years on my 6s without any issue. That center post in the USB-C port makes it much harder to get in there. Sort of dreading dust build up and the harder time I'll have removing it. Anyone had any extensive experience with USB-C on Android phones? It is tough to clean the dust out?

I wouldn’t use a paper clip, the metal can mess with the pins. I always used toothpicks or floss picks. I’d imagine they’d still work fine with a USB-C port, but I’ve never had to clean one out.

I have a Pixel 3a XL which I used from May 2020 to February 2021 before I got my 11 Pro Max. USB-C port, goes on charger every night. I've never had to clean it out and it's never been a problem.

I’ve used canned air to clean lightening, micro-USB, mini-USB and USB-C ports. Lightning ports are the most susceptible to having dust and dirt interfere with established a good connection, by a significant margin. Mini-USB has occasional issues. I never had dust and dirt interfere with making a USB-C connection although they do collect dirt and dust that I have cleaned out as part of general cleaning.

The other problem child old 3.5mm audio socket. Many (not Apple) were not sealed and provided a clear path into the electronics interiors.

Someone could’ve stuffed my Lightning port on my 12 Pro full of superglue the day I got it, and I never would’ve noticed ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
