They're sold out of clear so they emailed me asking if I wanted smoke or black. I chose smoke and will try to pair it with my grey smartcover.

a sharp scissors on the left side works great, and it pairs up perfectly with the smart cover.

Got my clear one in the mail today, not to bad at all. Used a sheet metal Whitney punch to make the hole for the microphone hole size is 1/8, worked perfect, like it was done at the factory.:)

Love this idea!

Placed an order for 2x of those Smoke TPU covers and some screen protectors.

Being that it's clear, should be easy to pop a hole for the mic and outline the cutting area for the smart cover.

If it fits well enough, I might even skip getting a nicer case altogether... Although that Incipio feather + smart cover is a great combo when the proper case comes out! :)

i just received mine today, clear with inner circle design. the fit is definitely snug and good. bought a $1 hole puncher and made the mic cutout.

to all that has cut the side to make the smart cover work, how are you cutting it? any pictures would be greatly appreciated.

I used a sharp utility knife, and a straight edge, but I'm not happy with the cut, so I ordered 2 more black cases to have a couple more shots at getting it perfect. The thing that is perfect is the sim card cut out. You need to duplicate that on the bottom as well, so when you swing the cover around fully to the back, the hinge clears the case, and doesn't buckle on the bottom.

I'm expecting my new case tomorrow, so when I cut the new one, I'll take photos of the finished piece.

the solid black looks great - and the sync port hole looks bigger than on my targus TPU I just got so might work with the camera adapter.

So you're suggesting that I cut along the bottom of the sim card opening? Btw, do you cut the edges too or leave a little like the cut out on the 30 pin slot?

This is how I did it, and what I mean by mirroring the sim cut out. It acts as a well for the hinge to go into when you wrap the smart cover to the back of the case.
