I have Mid-2014 13" rMBP and have noticed an audible "click" noise when the display wakes from sleep. At first I thought it was the hinge when opening lid of the computer but I can reproduce the noise every time by sleeping the computer with the screen open and then waking from sleep by pressing the keyboard.

It definitely happens when the display turns on. Is this normal for LED retina displays or is this is a sign that the screen will ultimately fail? Anyone else's behave the same way?

I would make an appointment with the Genius Bar. If it isn't anything to worry about, no harm going. If it is, you can get it addressed.
