Is anyone getting an issue with a faint clicking noise near the FaceTime camera and slightly below it (in portrait mode) on the display when pressing on it? I've had mine returned and got a new one but it has the same issue so I was wondering if this was normal.

Yep, mine does too. It sounds like the glass is making contact with the camera housing underneath when pressed. Not too worrried about it though as I can't see any problems that would result from it.

I was going to check up on it, but seeing that many of you are having the same issue (as well as my previous iPad), I don't think I will. It doesn't affect my workflow at all, so I'm not going to worry about it too much.

To be honest, I didn't know about this until I saw this thread. I would never have noticed otherwise. The forum can be a blessing and a curse. LOL.

Yes!!!

I went to Best Buy this weekend to have the Geek Squad guy try to hear it too and he thought that I was crazy!!! It is only by the part of the screen by the front facing camera.

Just to clarify, my 2nd gen 12.9 does this, but you have to really be close to hear it. It's very faint. And I wouldn't have ever noticed it if not for this thread. Are some of you having a more prominent click?

After four exchanges I'm keeping the 10.5 just before the grace period is ending. I'm hoping for a batch then without the clicking noise. I'm not bothered by the low noise itself but I'm wondering if there's a technical fault which results in problems after a longer period of use.

Just picked up a new 10.5 for my brother yesterday, and it absolutely has the clicking sound. Doesn't even slightly bother me, since, you know, neither of us will be pressing the camera area anyway during use. :D

I just bought a second 12.9 and it does not have the same popping sound when scrolling on the camera side. Putting the old one on eBay.

Interesting. Personally I'm on my fourth device and every single one has had this issue. I took it to the Genius Bar and was told it was something that happened on the devices they had in the back as well. I'm just going to keep this one and use the one year warranty if I have to.

Are you talking about the slight popping noise when scrolling on the camera side screen??

For instance, I use my iPad in landscape mode and usually scroll w my left hand/thumb. That's when I would hear the light popping noise every time I would scroll. Nothing on the other side

Yes.

If money is not an issues then why not?
Imho simplicity is key. I used to own to many things that I didn't use and learned to keep things minimal and simple and am happier because of it.

I understand your point, but I personally plan on using the device for school. I have many textbooks that I can mark up on the device/many lecture notes, so I don't need to carry around four or five books at a time.

Had this on my first 12.9 inch 2017. Apple used almost two months to get me a replacement. Guess what? The replacement also got the problem, but it seems to be a bit better. Plan is to keep it for now. It’s not really a big problem as long as it’s not getting worse.

A little update: Have tried to use it as normal and it has mostly been fine. Yesterday I used the pencil for a while and now it seems a bit worse. The weight of my wrist resting on the display perhaps?
