Today my world may have ended.

My iPhone 5s home button has started making an extra slight pre-click click. I push down very slightly and it happens, but with no onscreen result/response. Then I follow through to push further and get the full click and response.

Everything else is fine.

Has anyone else had this devastating problem?

My co-worker had similar issues with his 5s after he accidentally smeared peanut butter all over the home button.

It's possible that something got under the home button.

This could be an "issue" with the iPhone 5S in general. Obviously, the Home button is different with the incorporation of Touch ID. But certainly, every iPhone 5S I have come into contact with has felt very different to its predecessors. (Though I haven't put my finger exactly on it yet.) In fact, I recall Brian Klug making similar comments in the Anandtech podcast. Of course, all of this is very subjective and only Apple fans would pick up on such tiny details.

Yes, and it's d*** annoying. Hopefully with continued use it'll work itself out.

Just wondering, how do you accidental smear peanut butter on your phone?

There's a question about how you can get something that's on your hands onto your phone that you hold and use with your hands? Even if he had said strontium-90 it would still make sense. I'm sure there are peanut butter scenarios that would raise the question but those are outliers. 🙂
