In reference to the absurdity of changing the clocks back & forth for Daylight Savings Time...............:D

"If your feet get cold in bed at night, all that is needed is to cut a foot from the top of your blanket and sew it to the bottom."

After being in Army I want Standard Time always be and do away with Daylight savings time! We don't use oil lamps anymore the 1st World War is long over!

Haven't had to reset a clock in over 22 years.

I live in Arizona. :D
.................as do I.
I escaped California "clock changer land" over a decade ago.
That was just one of the smaller, but many, reasons to get the heck out of there! ??

Ain't Arizona great!
We're getting rain & snow in the Bradshaws right now!
Welll…I wouldn't exactly know. :)

We're in Phoenix, so right now it's 73º. Going to be 95º on Friday.

But yes, AZ is great.

I read this and in my head thought I read “Cut your foot off and sew it to the top of your head” (I kid you not!)

Think I may have watched one too many horror films….

There is a bill in the US Congress to get rid of this semi-annual time change.
It passed in the Senate with a unanimous vote. Apparently it’s the only thing that everyone can agree on.
Apparently, this was something that congressional aides did not inform their senators about. Typically, if it's procedural or unimportant (relatively speaking) there's no need for the aides to inform their senators about what they are voting on.

Josh Hawley in particular, was annoyed, and says had he known what the vote was about he would have voted against it.

That said, it would seem that the media is dead set against it. I see nothing but "We'll all be sorry about this" articles in news searches. There is also a lobby in Congress that sees gift bags for DST delivered to congressional members twice a year. They lobby for the continuation of DST on behalf of those who want to keep it.

I guess they got caught napping this time around.

I do not see this getting anywhere. There's too many special interests that make money off DST that have the shield of 'safety', 'saving energy' and whatnot to wave around.

The only reason Arizona and Hawaii escaped all of this is because no one could reasonably justify still having the sun out at 9:00pm during the middle of the summer.

As someone who lives in the north, I will only compromise on 30min increase/decrease. DST throughout the year would have the sun rise at around 9am in the morning during winter in the north.

Sense being in service when in Japan on the bases they did away with pennies altogether! You don't know how prices after that made much better! I say get rid of the penny is larger issue!

Went skiing in Aspen back in the early 90's and the entire Aspen Ski Company worked out their prices so that pennies weren't needed. Everything was to nearest nickle.

I was OK with that. My fear is that someone will decide to make dollar coins the only dollar. I hate change and don't carry it. It goes in the center console or the change jug the minute I can get rid of it.

I doubt that will ever happen. Since I was a kid (1970s) there was the Eisenhower Dollar, the Susan B Anthony dollar and the Sacagawea dollar coins. Many of those are still in circulation. You can go to a bank and ask for a dollar coin.

You can even ask for a $2 bill. Those are legit US currency.

Americans don't want to accept dollar coins for a lot of reasons, one of which is that few vending machines are going to accept them. There's more acceptance of the Kennedy half dollar and lots of people are completely unaware that there is a 50¢ piece in current US circulation.

From Reuters................
"WASHINGTON, March 15 (Reuters) - The U.S. Senate on Tuesday passed legislation that would make daylight saving time permanent starting in 2023, ending the twice-annual changing of clocks in a move promoted by supporters advocating brighter afternoons and more economic activity."

Because who doesn't love sunrise at 9am in the winter, unless you are in the Southern U.S.
