Hi everyone,

So my friend has a macbook pro that has a failing hard drive. By using my windows PC, can I take her hard drive and clone it to another (mac) hard drive using my windows computer?

I have Acronis but I don't know if that is supported. Anyone else have other suggestions? Please remember that I cannot use CCC or other software designed for Macs since I only have PCs to do this on.

Thanks,
-Wu

I would have thought this would work as long as you do a full disk to disk clone, not a partion clone.

the only thing you might need to do the if the new drive is bigger is resize the active partition so the space is available for use.

Thank you for your reply!

now assuming it works, can I access any of the files on my PC to see if it worked without putting it back into the mac first just to find out that it didn't work? There are some sort of readers for windows PCs right? Any suggesstions?
