I'm looking for a cloning app that will make daily clones of my HD to a backup drive. I don't want to keep the backup drive permanently mounted. Can anyone recommend an app that can automatically mount the backup drive, run a scheduled backup, then unmount the drive?

SuperDuper has that feature in the options dialog. It also supports shell scripts before and after.

Thanks! Can SuperDuper do this? I've been using it for years but haven't seen this feature.
As Ebenezum already answered your question and I've never used SuperDuper, I just can bring in another thread where we've been discussing differences between SuperDuper and Carbon Copy Cloner. The primary advantage of CCC seems to be the ability to handle the Recovery Partition as well. All other features appear to be quite similar.
