After executing this method of cloning because my G5 will not boot from the internal drive (, the terminal recognized both the internal and external drive that I am cloning to, however once it began the "restoring" process in the prompt, it stopped with the message: "asr: couldn't restore - Input/output error"

Does anyone have ANY idea what this means. I have a bad feeling the drive is dead and I will have to wipe it clean.

Can anyone help me figure this out. Thanks!

Launch Disc Utility (with the install discs upon startup) and see if you can repair the drive.

I have tried that once already with the Tiger install disc and it failed to repair. I am trying it a second time and waiting for a response...stay tuned.
