So my power settings when you close the lid on battery is to go to sleep. When plugged in 'do nothing'. This is how I run my MBP in osx also (using insomniax to keep computer on when close lid).

Now this works fine generally, but it is seeming pretty common when I close the lid when on battery, the screen automatically goes black (good feature - something osx doesnt do) but the computer doesn't always sleep! When this happens, when I open the lid again, the computer is on, but the screen stays black and I can't do anything but a hard reboot! And then it works fine for a while (goes to sleep when I close the lid on battery and wakes up fine).

I had this sort of problem with my old inspiron when I first got it and a video driver update fixed it.

I have an early 08 MBP, running vista.

I'd appreciate any advice, thanks.
