I have a couple of TB of data files on a Windows 10 PC that I'd like to move into cloud storage in order to (a) get them off the Windows PC's drive, and (b) make them available to my Macs.
I tried installing iCloud for Windows with my existing Apple ID. Unfortunately, when files are moved into iCloud Drive on the Windows PC, copies remain on the Windows internal drive. I've seen a post from Apple that indicates it's intended for sync'ing, not storage.
I also have a Dropbox account. Though it can be configured for "smart sync" (downloading files from the cloud only when required), I'm not seeing a way to move files from the local device into cloud storage without retaining a local copy (without significant extra steps).
Does anyone have a better approach for cloud storage (not sync) for Mac and Windows? Don't want to use Google Drive.
